A carbon black is a colloidal form of carbon that contains 90 to 99% carbon. Over time the demand for carbon black is increasing incredibly, and many industries are using it for many applications like plastic, tire, electronics, and many more. The characteristics of carbon black depend on its manufacturing process. Therefore, this material is classified by its features. There are several techniques and methods to produce carbon black, such as thermal black, gas, furnace, and lamp process. However, the 90% carbon black is produced by the furnace black process due to its excellent results.

Carbon Black feedstock:

The feedstock carbon black offered by a carbon black manufacturer is based on hydrocarbons such as crude oil, aromatic oil, and coal tar.  Moreover, feedstock carbon black is made by heavy petroleum fraction and distillation residue from oil mixtures and different oil refineries. Natural gas, gas oil naphtha, and acetylene help to produce feedstock carbon black.

Furnace Black process:

This is one of the wide processes for carbon black production. Recent research revealed that 90% of carbon black is produced by this process. In this procedure, aromatic oil, feedstock oil, water, and other raw material is heated on high temperature that ultimately produces carbon black. Then carbon black is cooled with the help of bag filters.

Thermal black process:

This process is also known as a discontinuous process, where natural gas, hydrocarbon oil, and feedstock material are used to produce carbon black. Through this process, you get high-quality carbon black.

Channel black process: In this process, crude oil and carrier gas burn together to produce carbon black. Today, this process is using to produce carbon black pigment for industrial use.

Lamp-black process:

This is one of the oldest methods to produce carbon black. Carbon black material and feedstock oil are heated on a cast-iron pan. After some time, it begins to produce carb black particles.
